UNetbootin Portable allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions without burning a CD. This app requires admin rights. UNetbootin Portable can create a bootable Live USB drive, or it can make a "frugal install" on your local hard disk if you don't have a USB drive. It loads distributions either by downloading a ISO (CD image) files for you, or by using an ISO file you've already downloaded. Simply put, it allows you to Install the linux version you want on a USB drive or a hard disk partition with the help of this portable and easy to use application.

UNetbootin Portable is intended for easily creating bootable USB drives containing various Linux or BSD distributions. Its main advantage is that it helps you avoid the storage of the installation kits on individual CDs or DVDs.

It provides support for the most popular distributions and various versions for each of them (Linux, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, FreeBSD, Ubuntu, Kubuntu and more).

Additionally, you can use it to store the distributions on a hard disk partition (creating so-called 'frugal installs', where all the files on the ISO image are booted from the hard drive, rather than a removable device).

You can select one of the predefined options for installing an operating system or provide a locally stored ISO image file or floppy disk containing the setup files.

In case your preferred distribution cannot be found in the drop-down list. The latter option is designed to allow the bootable disk creation even if the host computer is not connected to the Internet.

Choosing one of the available distributions results in the display of the homepage, along with a summarized description of its purpose and installation notes. Therefore, you are informed about the download source of the grabbed setup files.

Aside from Linux and BSD distributions, UNetbootin Portable provides support for various system utilities, such as partition managers, system repair tools, boot utilities, security software, network analyzers, password recovery tools and more.

After choosing the desired distribution, all that's left to so is set the target drive and the process is initiated with the push of a button.
