Trout is a simple "load'n'play" type of audio player which supports MP3, WAV, OGG, and FLAC and it also doesn't display or use tags. It also supported audio formats (with included plugins) FLAC, WMA, WMP, WMV, ASF, MID, MIDI, RMI, KAR, WV, WVC, AAC, MP4, M4A, M4B, M4P, APE, AC3, SPX, TTA, OFR, MPC, ALAC. Basic freeDB support for audio CD track titles, has WinampAPI support for external control and display, includes extremely customizable hotkey system, and Toaster style popup. The nature of this tool is suited to both professionals and novices alike.

Trout is a simple-to-use audio player that, although it does not sport rich features, it contains extensive file support for formats like MP3, OGG, WAV, CDA, WMA and FLAC.

In other words, It a small and lightweight audio player with extensive format support, featuring a tag editor, playlists, search tool and many others.

No matter what type of audio file you load into Trout, it will play it. You see, this is a free audio player for Windows, an audio player that provides support for a very long list of audio files. MP3, WAV, WMA, FLAC, and many other audio formats are supported.

Setting up the program is done quickly and painlessly. The interface is not particularly attractive but fairly simple to navigate. Audio tracks can be added to the list from files, entire directories, discs and even URLs.

Load audio files into Trout and they will be presented as a list on the interface. Above this list there’s a panel that presents the playback controls and info on the track you selected for playback.

Way at the top, where it is usually located, there’s a File Menu. So overall, there’s nothing complicated about the interface; you won’t have any problems using it to access the functionality Trout has to offer.

Standard audio controls include play and stop, play next o previous tracks, along with position seeking and volume adjustment.

Many details are noted on the files, such as artist, album, title, bit rate, size, extension and full path. It is possible to use a search function when dealing with large amounts of data, remove duplicates, edit tags, and open a file's location in Explorer. Additionally, you can save and load playlists.

The program does not put a strain on computer performance, as it uses low CPU and RAM. Thanks to its intuitive structure and overall simplicity, Trout can be easily figured out by audio player novices.
