CCextractor 0.79

CCextractor is a portable tool that's a fast closed captions extractor which analyzes video files and produces independent subtitle files from the closed captions data. The basic functionality offered by CCExtractor is the possibility of storing all the text that forms TV captions and DVD closed captions into a STR text file. Unlike commonly used DVD subtitles, captions are not images that require OCR technology to identify and “extract” the text – they are a pure text already, which guarantees a perfect extraction of the whole script. Since it's portable, no installation is required to use this tool.

This is the portable edition of ccextractor, a graphical interface for a complex application with advanced features, dedicated to processing MPEG files and extracting subtitles. It caters to experienced users in particular.

Since installation is not required, you can save the app directory to any location on the hard disk and just click the executable to run.

There is also the possibility to move ccextractor to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no other installers.

What's more, the tool does not create new entries in the Windows registry or Start menu, leaving no traces behind after its removal.

As for the GUI, ccextractor adopts a classic window with multiple tabs dedicated to input files and options, advanced input options, decoders, the output, and others.

So, MPEG files can be either dropped in a list or processed via UTP (by specifying the port to listen to). The app is able to automatically detect the correct format, as well as to take the source files' hexadecimal dump into account for processing.

In addition, you can establish the start and end time for processing a smaller section of the entire video, select the output encoding method and subtitle format between SRT, SAMI, TXT, TTXT, TTML and others.

You can also set a subtitle delay. These are just a small part of the configuration options available through ccextractor.

The software application extracts subtitle files quickly while remaining light on system resources. It does not hang, crash or pop up error messages. Clearly geared toward advanced users, ccextractor comes packed with numerous options for extracting subtitle files from MPEG videos.
