ScreenGrab 1.2.1

ScreenGrab is a portable screen capture utility for Windows. When running, ScreenGrab responds to preset hotkey combinations, making it easy to make screen captures without having to click on buttons or use the mouse. Save files as BMP, TIFF, JPEG, or PNG. You can set ScreenGrab to capture either the entire screen or just the active window. The program can either automatically save the image, save it to the clipboard, or prompt you to enter a file name. Or alternatively, the program can optionally include the cursor in the image and play a sound when a screen capture is taken.

ScreenGrab is a small Windows application designed specifically for helping you take screenshots of your desktop and save the images to JPEG, PNG, or BMP file format.
The advantages of being portable

Since this is the portable version of the program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.

You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to take snapshots on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.

The clean feature lineup makes it easier for you to tweak the dedicated parameters. There’s also support for a preview panel that reveals the last taken photo.

Portable ScreenGrab gives you the possibility to take snapshots full screen or capture window, user-defined screen area, or previous selection. What’s more, you can insert a delay time (in seconds), copy the image to the clipboard so you can easily paste it into other third-party programs, upload the photo to Imgur or ImageShack, as well as edit it using a custom program from your computer.

The tool lets you specify the default saving directory and filename, pick the output format (PNG, JPG, or BMP), insert date and time stamps in the filename, automatically save screenshots, allow multiple copies, as well as assign hotkeys for taking snapshots.

Tests have shown that Portable ScreenGrab carries out a task quickly and provides very good image quality. It is quite friendly with system resources, so the overall performance of the computer is not affected.

To sum things up, Portable ScreenGrab proves to be a handy piece of software that comes bundled with basic features for helping you take snapshots.

You may rely on the hotkeys for fast actions but you cannot perform advanced operations in order to edit the images using a pen and pencil, embed text and image watermarks, and insert shadows, just to name a few suggestions.
