Merge 2.4

Merge is picture utility for Windows which enables its users to combine two pictures. The program has the ability to overlay two pictures in different ways; in addition, it can merge multiple pictures with the same picture with automatic scaling. The program offers different effects: blur, edge detect, emboss, sharpen, soften, etc. It also includes a text tool, which allows users to type or paste text in any font, size and color and merge it with an image. In addition, users can rotate, move, scale images and adjust merging parameters, brightness, contrast and much much more.

Merge is a simple-to-use application that enables you to overlay two pictures or text elements. The result can be saved to file (BMP, JPG, PNG, TIF, TGA, PCX) or printed.

The interface of the application is familiar and easy to navigate. Loading two images or text files to overlap can be done by using only the file browser, since the "drag and drop" functionality is not supported. It is possible to merge multiple items in batch mode.

Merge comes equipped with several configuration settings. Therefore, you can adjust the image scale, specify the merge method, as well as set the contrast, brightness and RGB levels, apply a filter (e.g. grayscale, blur, emboss) and flip objects.

Batch merging is really useful for watermarking images. There is a special file dialog for setting this up: users choose what should be used as the watermark and then select the folder or images that will be marked.

It  keeps original images intact and creates a copy as the final result. Macros can be created to ease repetitive watermarking.

In addition, you can change any of the two sources by opening a new image, text or blank picture, or by pasting the contents from the Clipboard. Plus, you can select the blend method between "Blend Smooth" and "Rectangle".

Other features of Merge let you alter the default base color, establish the target image size, set a new position for the images or text, as well as switch to another theme for the interface.

The graphic editing tool requires a moderate-to-high amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time to key strokes and mouse commands, and includes a help file. There are not any issues throughout tests, since the application does not hang, crash or alert of any errors.

To sum it up, Merge provides a simple solution to overlapping two images or text elements, and it can be handled by users of any skill level, thanks to its intuitive layout.
