VideoInspector is a portable too that helps you to find out why some video files don't work correctly on your system (no sound, no video). It identifies the codec (coder-decoder like DivX) required to play a specific file. VideoInspector can also list all the codecs installed on your system, burn your video files on a CD/DVD (requires VSO's CopyToDVD), export the result in a text or HTML file, and process multiple files at the same time (batch processing). VideoInspector is available in more than 12 languages and gives access to an interactive on-line help.
VideoInspector is a software application which helps people view information regarding their movies and solve issues related to codecs.
Since this is the portable counterpart of VideoInspector,
it means you can skip the installation process and use it on any
computer you have access to, by simply dropping the program files to a
portable storage unit (e.g. USB flash drive).
In addition to that, an important aspect you have to
keep in mind is that the Windows registry will not be affected by this
software utility, and there will be no leftover files upon its removal
from the hard disk.
The interface is plain and intuitive, and enables
you to upload AVI, MKV, MPEG and MOV video files by using the built-in
file browser or the “drag and drop” feature.
After you add a movie, Portable VideoInspector will
display information regarding it, such as duration, size, if it is
complete or valid, resolution, frames per second, bit rate, quality
factor, video and audio codec, and number of channels.
Furthermore, it is possible to preview the file in
your default media player, open a bitrate graph, download all missing
codecs, and view a list of all installed video and audio codecs, along
with details such as FCC, description, version and path.
The app also includes a FourCC editor, which lets
you modify the value for the stream header and stream format. From the
settings panel you can change the language and add a context menu entry
(“Open with”).
To sum up, Portable VideoInspector is an efficient
and powerful piece of software, which helps you solve all your codec
issues and view important data about movies. It uses minimal CPU and
memory, the response time is good and the interface is intuitive.
