Freeware Tools: Fotografix 1.5

Fotografix is a small portable app (less than 1mb) photo editor that offers all of the standard editing tools along with support for layers and color channels, clone brush, magic wand tool, layers masks and more. The program also includes a variety of image filters to add effects or sharpen your images. Advanced users can also automate frequent tasks with custom scripts but this feature is not documented and may become useful in a later version. Fotografix supports some of the more common image formats including PNG, JPG, GIF, TIFF and some others.

Fotografix is an application that comes packed with some essential tools for editing image files. The tool can be seamlessly handled by users of any experience level.

This is a portable software, so installing Fotografix is not necessary. It means that you can place the tool on an external device (like a USB flash drive), plug it into any computer and directly run its executable file.

More importantly, there will be no changes made to your Windows registry keys.

The interface of the application is plain and simple to navigate through. Image files can be imported by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" method.

So, you can use basic graphic editing tools, such as rectangular and elliptical selection, magic wand, transform, ruler, clone, eraser, brush, fill, gradient, text, eye dropper, pan and zoom.

But you can also change the image and canvas size, crop, flip and rotate the picture, extract icons, make image adjustments (e.g. brightness, contrast, color balance), apply effects (e.g. black and white, posterize, blur, sharpen), switch to full screen mode, and others.

The graphic editing tool requires a moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time, supports keyboard shortcuts and doesn't freeze, crash or pop up errors.
